Have a look at this article by McKinsey about the connected car customer experience framework that describes five levels of user experience in connected cars.

Some vehicle models have already reached level 2 of this framework and are advancing towards level 3 and we can say that the current levels of intelligence allow the vehicles to have their own digital identity.

A digital and connected identity that allows the vehicle to communicate with its owner by keeping him updated regarding crucial inputs and the same way around; allows the owner to control and personalize seamlessly various actions on the car.
