Navigating innovation: The journey of design and development

Pre-Development

During this phase, we focus on understanding the customer's requirements, researching the market, and developing a preliminary design.

Design

Where we bring the customer's vision to life. During this phase, we develop a detailed design that meets the customer's requirements and is feasible to manufacture.

Development

Where we turn the design into a reality. During this phase, we build prototypes, test them in real-world conditions, and make any necessary changes.

Testing & Validation

Testing and validation is essential to ensuring that the product meets the customer's requirements and is safe and reliable. During this phase, we test the product in a variety of conditions to identify any potential problems.

Mass production

Once the product is ready for market, we move into mass production. During this phase, we work with our manufacturing partners to produce the product at scale.

Expert Guidance Unlocked

We offer a comprehensive range of consulting services, designed to empower product development initiatives. Their consultancy expertise is an integral part of the product development process, ensuring that each project is aligned with both technical excellence and market viability.

Functional Safety QM-ASIL B

We provide comprehensive functional safety consulting services to help clients meet the requirements of ASIL B. Our experts have extensive knowledge in the ISO 26262. We work with clients to identify and mitigate risks, develop functional safety plans, and implement safety assurance processes.

Cybersecurity

Cybersecurity becomes more and more significant. We work with clients to develop cybersecurity strategies following the ISO 21434, implement security controls, and test for vulnerabilities to avoid critical product manipulations, such as security gateways and data encryption to protect critical and sensible information against internal and external manipulations.

ASPICE

We provide ASPICE consulting services to help clients improve their software development processes. ASPICE is a set of international standards that provide guidance on the development, maintenance, and operation of software. Our experts have extensive knowledge in helping clients achieve ASPICE compliance.

Validation

OTC Engineering helps clients ensure that their products meet their requirements by providing comprehensive consulting services. Validation is the process of demonstrating that a product meets its intended purpose. We work with clients to develop validation plans, implement validation tests, and collect and analyze validation data.

V-Model

The V-Model is a waterfall-based process that integrates requirements, design, implementation, testing, and deployment. Our experts have extensive experience in helping clients implement the V-Model in the automotive industry.

Quick Answers

Engineering questions, answered.

Traditionally, a vehicle's software was frozen at the start of production (SOP) and never changed. The shift to software-defined vehicles ends this model — vehicles now receive continuous software updates throughout their lifetime, enabling new features, safety patches, and performance improvements post-sale. For OEMs, this requires a fundamentally different product lifecycle: continuous integration pipelines, OTA infrastructure, and engineering teams that remain active well beyond SOP.

The SDV (Software-Defined Vehicle) product lifecycle treats the vehicle as a continuously evolving software platform. Unlike traditional automotive development — which follows a linear V-model that ends at SOP — the SDV lifecycle includes post-production software iterations, OTA update campaigns, continuous validation, and ongoing cybersecurity monitoring. Engineering teams must design for updateability from day one, not retrofit it at the end of development.

Rapid prototyping in automotive engineering is the practice of quickly building functional proof-of-concept hardware and software to validate design assumptions before committing to full development. It compresses the concept phase from months to weeks by using off-the-shelf development boards, simulation environments, and modular software frameworks. For OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers, it reduces the risk of late-stage design changes — the most costly type of rework in the automotive V-model.

ISO 26262 is the international functional safety standard for automotive electrical and electronic systems. ASIL B (Automotive Safety Integrity Level B) is the second of four safety levels — applicable to systems where a failure could cause serious injury. For product development, ASIL B compliance requires formal hazard analysis, safety goal definition, hardware-software interface specification, and rigorous verification and validation processes. It is a mandatory qualification for many OEM supply chain certifications.

Automotive mobility consulting covers expert guidance across the full product development lifecycle — from regulatory compliance (ISO 26262, ISO 21434, ASPICE, ISO 24089) to architecture definition, V-model implementation, and SIL/HIL validation strategy. It supports OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers in accelerating homologation, reducing audit findings, and aligning their engineering processes with the requirements of their customers and regulatory bodies.
