FAQS
Understanding the iSCM
At OTC Engineering, we design and develop breakthrough technologies to enable the future of mobility. The iSCM is a core innovation for electric vehicles: a wireless, intelligent battery module that simplifies design, enhances safety and enables scalability. Discover more below.
The Intelligent Smart Cell Manager (iSCM) is a compact, embedded module integrated directly into each battery cell. It enables wireless communication with the BMS (Battery Management System), eliminating traditional wiring and improving battery pack design, modularity and efficiency.
Unlike conventional solutions that rely on central controllers and complex wiring, the iSCM decentralizes intelligence by embedding it into each cell. It uses secure RF communication, enabling modularity, reducing wiring harness complexity, and lowering system cost and weight.
The iSCM uses secure RF-based communication between each cell and the BMS. It ensures low-latency data transfer, resilience to interference, and encrypted channels for real-time monitoring and control without physical connections.
Absolutely. The iSCM supports secure Over-The-Air (OTA) firmware updates, allowing manufacturers to deploy improvements, fix bugs or enable new features remotely, throughout the product lifecycle.
The iSCM helps reduce time-to-market, simplifies battery system integration, and supports new scalable, modular EV platforms. Its smart architecture enables digital services, improves maintenance, and provides long-term adaptability.
Yes. The iSCM is designed to integrate with standard lithium-ion battery cells, with flexible interfaces and customizable firmware to meet different chemistry and form factor requirements.
