A vehicle telematics platform is a system that collects, transmits, and processes data from connected vehicles in real time. It combines embedded hardware (TCUs, OBD devices), connectivity protocols (MQTT, 4G/5G), and cloud infrastructure to enable remote diagnostics, OTA updates, fleet monitoring, and data-driven services for OEMs, fleet operators, and end users.

A connected car PaaS (Platform as a Service) provides OEMs with a ready-made infrastructure to connect vehicles to the cloud, manage device fleets, deliver OTA updates, and build digital services — without building the platform from scratch. OTC Engineering's i-ConnDrive is a connected car PaaS that adds a data-driven business layer and digital services marketplace on top of the connectivity infrastructure.

Vehicle IoT (vIoT) refers to the application of IoT principles to connected vehicle systems — embedding sensors, gateways, and communication modules into vehicles to stream operational data to cloud platforms. Unlike generic IoT, vIoT must meet automotive-grade standards (ISO 26262, UNECE R156) and handle the unique constraints of in-vehicle networks such as CAN bus and AUTOSAR middleware.

ConnecTech is OTC Engineering's end-to-end connectivity technology that links vehicles to the cloud and mobile apps in real time. It integrates IoT platform components, data treatment algorithms, and customer-facing digital services across multiple layers — from the in-vehicle device to B2C apps and B2B fleet dashboards. It is designed for OEMs who want to deploy connected services without building the full stack internally.

FOTA (Firmware Over-the-Air) refers specifically to remote firmware updates for embedded devices in a vehicle. Edge-to-Cloud (Edge2Cloud) is a broader architecture where an edge gateway aggregates and buffers data locally before syncing to the cloud — enabling updates and data transfers even in environments with intermittent connectivity, such as off-road or industrial vehicles. UNECE R156 compliance governs both for type-approved vehicles.
