Reimagining EV Batteries: OTC Engineering Presents iSCM at Advanced Factories 2025

At OTC Engineering, we are committed to pushing the boundaries of innovation in smart, connected, and sustainable mobility. Last week, during the 10th CIAC Innovation Corner at Advanced Factories 2025, we had the opportunity to present our latest development in advanced battery management: the Intelligent Smart Cell Manager (iSCM).

This event, organized by the CIAC - Clúster de la Indústria d'Automoció de Catalunya, gathered 14 of the most innovative projects in the automotive sector. We were honored to be selected as a finalist and proud to share our contribution to the future of electric vehicles (EVs).

What is iSCM?

The iSCM is a wireless smart battery module designed to revolutionize the way energy is managed inside electric vehicles. Unlike conventional cell monitoring systems that rely on extensive wiring and complex integration, the iSCM is embedded directly within each battery cell, providing a new level of modularity, safety, and connectivity.

Key features include:

  • Wireless RF-based communication with the BMS, eliminating traditional wiring
  • Built-in functional safety (ISO 26262) to meet automotive compliance standards
  • Scalable and modular architecture for flexible battery design
  • Real-time cell intelligence for enhanced energy management
  • Simplified integration for faster development and manufacturing

Presentation by CEO Lluis Olivet

Our CEO, Lluis Olivet, presented the iSCM live at the event, highlighting how this disruptive solution simplifies EV battery architecture through wireless communication, modular design, and integrated safety.

He emphasized how technologies like the iSCM support the shift to software-defined vehicles and how they play a key role in accelerating the transition to intelligent, scalable, and compliant energy platforms for next-generation EVs.

Innovation Through Collaboration

Advanced Factories 2025 provided a valuable platform to share our work, exchange ideas with industry leaders, and learn from the other innovative projects presented at the CIAC Innovation Corner. We extend a big thanks to CIAC for organizing the event and for their continued support of innovation in the mobility sector.

We also congratulate all the other finalists for driving forward-thinking projects that will shape the automotive ecosystem of tomorrow.

What’s Next?

The iSCM is currently in an advanced validation phase as part of our continuous innovation roadmap. At OTC Engineering, we remain focused on developing technologies that support smarter, safer, and more efficient electric mobility. We welcome conversations with OEMs, Tier1 suppliers, and technology partners exploring new solutions in electrification, battery systems, or wireless architectures.

Let’s keep shaping the future of mobility — together.
